Which is to say, it's alright for killing single enemies at a long range. YCS Gauss Rifle is on par/better than the Anti Materiel Rifle. Granted, it's still better than 90% of the weapons in the game. Holorifle isn't that good because of how slow it fires compared to the laser rifle, the reload time, and the constant obnoxious VATs glitch (I play on console, probably not an issue on PC). And the laser rifle can easily clean up the hardest areas in the game as long as you are smart about keeping distance and picking off one by one. Gatling Laser, Plasma Caster, or the Tri Beam Laser are less practical than the LR, but they just completely demolish anything the above weapons have trouble killing. Laser Rifle fully upgraded is the best weapon in the entire game for general use. MF Hyperbreeder is infinite ammo and cleans up 90% of the enemies in the game. A trial carbine outclasses a plasma rifle in this game. In Fallout 3 all you needed was a plasma rifle and you were good to go. Pew Pew is a great sidearm and has higher DAM, but A Light in Shining Darkness is still better in terms of DPS which is what's important in a sidearm.ĬZ57 Avenger has both higher DAM and DPS than the Gatling Laser.Įnergy weapons just suck in this game.
The holorifle has a glitch that stops it decaying, that's all it really has going for it when compared to the riot shotgun. Holorifle is basically a scoped shotgun and the riot shotgun is by far better than the holorifle with more ammo per shot, more ammo choices and higher DPS. YCS/186 is comparable to Christine's CoS only the CoS rifle uses less ammo per shot and can fire 5 times per reload. It seems every gun counterpart (with the right perks) are much more OP than the energy weapons. Energy weapons are reliant on crit damage, so I have 10 luck.
I recently started an energy weapons build, choosing all perks specific to energy weapons.
